Isle of May elopement - wedding photographer Anstruther, Scotland

The story of our one-day elopement

It wasn’t a wedding elopement, just simple ‘let’s run away for a day’ project. This time we went on a trip with our friends who are really good looking sweethearts and we couldn’t help ourselves. Taking some pictures of them in the scenic location of the Isle of May was ‘must to happen’ on our trip plan.

The Isle of May

is located in the north of the outer Firth of Forth, approximately 8 km off the coast of mainland Scotland. It is 1.8 kilometers long and less than half a kilometer wide. So it’s really tiny Island - perfect for a walk around. The island is owned and managed by Scottish Natural Heritage as a national nature reserve and you can see there plenty of birds including puffins, but we were unlucky and puffins were gone as it was the middle of cold August.

It’s not hard to get to the island. There is a May Princess boat trip leaving from Anstruther port, or a fast boat option. We would definitely go for the fast option next time, because it looks like fun, however, this time we picked our cameras safety. It was a nice trip.

The models

Javier is the owner of Taste of Spain on Glasgow’s West End, exactly Byres Road - small shop with authentic Spanish food (try Iberico ham - it’s delicious) and Gosia is a student and amazing sweetheart. Both are our friends for a while, actually, we were both classmates with Javier in GCC so we know him for as long as we know each other ;)

Have a look at this cool tiny island and plan a trip there. It’s really worth a visit. We are hitting the road and visiting Anstruther again this Saturday when we will have a pleasure to photograph a wedding in The Cow Shed Crail which is nearby. I can’t wait, but now I leave you with these photos.

…and for all the patient people tiny sequel at the end - few pictures of US snapped by Gosia.
