Where to start on this one…
There are weddings big and formal, wild elopments, crazy farm parties and there are… small intimate weddings with BIG dose of emotions. That’s how I remember Laura and Calum’s big day which took place in The Bothy in Glasgow’s West End.
As you probably know the venue can host up to 20ish people and we work there pretty often. And what I have to say about this particular place - every single couple who is getting married there, is completely different from any other. I’ve been shooting weddings there, inspired by city glamour, vintage, boho, even Las Vegas casino inspired (hi Stephen and Alan haha ;)))
What I want to say is - no couple is like any other. It just shows how versatile the place is. Elegant restaurant space, rustic event room and urban even a bit industrial spaces around the venue.
Let’s get back to Laura and Calum.
Their wedding was unforgettable in many aspects. The emotions they were happily sharing with us. How relaxed they were… It was a pure joy to photograph.
I believe that a wedding photographer is present during the wedding day to tell the story. Sometimes we need to work a bit more to make the story ‘work’ visually, but always - absolutely always EMOTIONS and HONEST reactions will be our main target to photograph. And here, during this wedding it was a feast for our eyes and cameras haha
Laura and Calum are absolutely phenomenal.
We photographed them getting ready, followed by intimate ceremony conducted by the amazing Kathryn Hanson, we had a walk filled with spontaneous, happy reactions from ALL Glaswegians and then Laura and Calum cut their cake and danced. And what a dance it was! A glimpse of sun reflected on the windows in the tenement building just opposite the venue… It was like a spotlight JUST ON THEM. Magic…
