Lauren & Craig - stylish, minimalist wedding in Dun Aluinn, Aberfoyle

Oh wow! I said just after arriving in the venue.

Dun Aluinn was on my bucket list for a while before shooting Lauren and Craig’s stylish and absolutely incredible wedding. It didn’t disappoint me. The venue is unique, the attention to detail in all aspects, high street interior design… It’s simply brilliant!

It’s a dream of a place for anyone who is at least a tiny bit into interior design. I definitely am. I love good spaces, smart interior plans, matching colour palette, but not boring haha, Dun Aluinn is all of it. Perfect, comfortable space and as owners say - Dun Aluinn is NOT a wedding venue, but they host a small number of weddings each year.

Now a bit about the day itself. It was a similar ‘game-plan’ for me as on the previously published Balnakeilly House wedding. I was just photographing alone and only a few hours (covid restrictions were playing against any evening parties at this time).

The two venues: Dun Aluinn and Balnakeilly are similar in a way. Both places are exclusive use, self-catering manor houses, providing accommodation for guests. What’s more, they’re in the same region in Scotland.

It was a beautiful, cloudy day. I enjoy cloudy days, they make my job simple haha. Clouds are diffusing (softening) light, so working with this type of light is more predictable, and technically easier. Cloudy days have as well one advantage over sunny days - greenery has a beautiful emerald shade. And it really can pop in editing, while a sunny day is bringing all warm tones out. Enough about my colour mania… I know, I’m sometimes too much, thank God I’m a photographer, not a painter who would mix colours more than actually paint haha

Laura and Craig are a dream to work with. Their wedding was a relaxed affair, with chilling on the patio, where they got married. Definitely, Dun Aluinn has one of the best ceremony views in Scotland. I enjoyed this wedding greatly. it was absolutely spectacular.
