Jen and David - Nethy Bridge Community Hall, Highland wedding photographer

Hi there,

it’s been a while again. Today I have a crazy, rock’n’roll, DIY wedding for you. It was an absolute honour to be this couple’s wedding photographer because it was one of these weddings we will never ever forget.

I should start by telling you how our story with Jen and David has started… I read a devastating post on Rock’n’Roll Bride FB forum written by Jen. She said that her original photographer informed them 3 weeks before their wedding that he has… better job to do in the US on their wedding date and he basically left them with nothing! I read this and said out loud ‘what a d***head!’. I literally hate such a lack of professionalism and treating people like nothing just because they offered less money… Shame on you if you read it now.

So… I read Jen’s post and immediately commented under saying that I’m based in Scotland (2,5h drive from the venue but still) and available. I was kicked out for advertising by a moderator, but you know what… I’m proud of this. I was able to be part of J&D’s big day (and save it).

We stayed with the bride and groom only 2h but how much fun we had with these two. They’re out of this world. If I would have to say in 3 words what was their wedding about I would say… LOVE, GUESTS and RAIN… and DIY. Jen is a super talented calligrapher known as TOASTY TYPE

Jen did all the calligraphy work for her own wedding - signs, neons, jackets and lots more DIY tiny things for the day. Their wedding was held in Nethy Bridge Community Hall which is a blank canvas venue, and the whole idea of organising a wedding there was in my opinion super retro. Do you remember the stories of cool community halls weddings on tiny villages…? It’s always the funniest stories.

I believe that after this day we have a few stories to remember, even tho we were present at this wedding only 2-3h. Grandpa dancing in the rain… Little boys drinking juice from champagne glasses… The most laughing bride ever… The rainiest portraits with the coolest guests…

A good wedding is not about the budget and fancy decorations. It’s about honesty, love, real friendships and lots of fun…
